" Raking Light and Shadow at Night "

Here is another nightscape of the moon setting behind the high mountian peaks, casting long shadows in formation with the landscape...it seems as though the shadows are alive as the breeze blows through the trees causing them to move. Oil on linen 13.50" x 9.00" available.

Beautiful work, Jon. I've not done any night scenes myself, but after seeing yours, I'll have to try a few!

Hi MCJ,

Thanks for your comment, hope to see you in Mora someday...I am personally using nightscenes as a practice for memory painting, as one cannot paint in the actual darkness,(at least I cannot see my paint in the dark), I believe nightscapes help one to interpret and enhance what is actually there in the darkness by using a sense of feel and intuitiveness.

Also, nightscenes are a very delicate balance of suggestive and actual colour, giving the artist much to consider on how to approach the work...every artist does them differently.
